Robert Ramirez, Senate District 29 (GOP)

 Ramirez

We've all seen misleading political ads this election season, but this one takes the cake. Robert Ramirez has demonstrated time and time again that he supports banning abortion in all cases including in instances where a woman has been the victim of rape or incest. His support for "personhood" legislation and the "personhood" ballot measure clearly demonstrate that he is in favor of limiting access to commonly-used forms of birth control. Clearly, Ramirez, like several other candidates running for office, has decided to mislead voters about his position on important women's issues in a last ditch effort to win the election. We couldn't trust him during legislative session when he voted against women, and we can't trust him now.

Robert Ramirez has gone on record as supporting the so-called "personhood" initiative.

  • Ramirez is a staunch supporter of the so-called "personhood" amendment.  He said, "I signed the Personhood Amendment last time [2010] and I signed it this time. I do believe as an amendment to the constitution that's something we should fight for."
  • If this amendment is passed, it would ban all abortions even in cases of rape or incest, and would insert government and politicians into personal and private health care decisions.

Robert Ramirez was given a 100% rating by Colorado Right to Life in 2010.

Robert Ramirez voted for "personhood" during the 2012 legislative session.

  • During the 2012 Colorado legislative session Ramirez ignored the will of Colorado voters who said no to "personhood" in 2008 and 2010. During the 2012 session, while a member of the Colorado House, he voted YES on House Bill 12-1130, a back door attempt at establishing fetal "personhood."
